Worktop & Workshop

*** 30 Day Photo Challenge ***

Day 13 - On the Worktop

I used my fruit bowl for my pic as it always looks good due to it all being fake fruit lol.

Woke up again feeling rotten, full of a cold and with a banging head for the 2nd or 3rd day on the run now. I didn't get up early and do Yoga as I just wasn't feeling it. Stayed in bed until mid-morning before I dragged myself up and jumped in the shower. I dosed myself up throughout the day with ibuprofen and paracetamol as well as having a few cold and flu nasal sprays.

Bonnie still isn't eating properly even when I put some hot dog sausage in with her food, she just picked out the hotdogs. I made the decision to just buy a big nag of 50 sausages and cooked them all off and bagged them up into bags of 8 sausages. At least if she is eating something it's better than nothing, so fingers crossed she will eat these.

The Old Harrison Street Building

Got a call from Nicola Davies to let me know that David Johnson, the director of the old Oldham Theatre Workshop had sadly passed away.

Many of the friends I have now are from meeting them at Oldham Theatre Workshop as we have all kept in touch. My one regret is that I didn't start to go there earlier in life. I think by the time I joined I was already at that age to have the embarrassment factor and so probably wasn't as confident as some of the older standing members who had been there from a very young age.

David had such a big impact on my life and I'm sure the lives of many others. He instilled discipline and professional work ethics into many child actors to prepare them for the real world. If ever I went for an audition, the mention of Oldham Theatre Workshop on my CV was always brought up. Everyone knew that if you attended OTW, you would be on time, know your lines and be professional. It was even recognised in the adult work environment as was well known in the Greater Manchester area. Everyone that attended OTW both feared David but also respected him as a director. He was a stickler for detail and would not accept sub-standard performance or tardiness with time keeping no matter how young or old you were.

I felt it important to write a separate blog to honour David, especially for the OTW facebook page so there is something there for posterity, so I wrote this one David's Tribute.
