Woke up and took Bella out for a walk first thing. I had a typical example of how useless I am at chit chat. I was walking past the local pub and a guy I recognised, (but couldn't remember his name) said "Alright Neil are you alright?" as I was walking past and I replied "yeah good thanks" and carried on walking and completely forgot to say "how are you?". It is just something I am really not good at and I have no idea why.
Had a vanilla protein shake with a sachet of supergreens for breakfast as I have not been eating a lot of fruit and veg (need to do a food shop) so it's a good way of supplementing my diet. Each sachet contains 20 fruit and vegetables so even if I don't eat any more all-day, I have a lot of the nutrients I need for the day. I also take my vitamins each day now too but I need to invest in some good quality probiotics as there seems to e a lot about gut health in the news lately.
Had a nice drive out to Holt just outside of Wrexham to a garden centre customer to do their Christmas orders. It's always a very relaxed appointment as I know the buyer quite well now and so we just work our way through the different companies and put together her orders for delivery later in the year as well as any tops ups for delivery now that might be needed. The drive was a combination of motorways and country roads and it gave me plenty of time to think.
It was good to see a lot of my supplier's products around the centre. It's always nice to have a large presence in one store, especially when it's selling well as it means customers have more reasons to need to see you. When I am busy I really enjoy my job. It's those weeks when you wake up on Monday with an empty diary and then have to start doing ring rounds that are not my favourite.
I tried practicing my conversational skills with my customer and actually found out a bit about her by asking quite a few open questions. My problem is I forge the info and then feel rude not knowing it when I next see someone. SOOOoo.. I thought I would use our CRM system (Salesforce) to make notes about customers and info I have found out, so I can have a quick look at it before I next see them. Hopefully, once I do this a few times I will manage to retain some of the info. I have the most shocking memory so I need to use whatever tools and methods are available to me to help improve my memory. I love developing any skills that can help me be the best version of myself and conversational skills is a big one that comes in handy in so many situations.
Thought I would treat myself when I got home to a proper coffee with squirty cream and flavoured sugar sprinkles. I normally only bother in winter and when I'm using up Baileys from Christmas lol. But as Baileys is now off the menu, I thought I would just have one for he hell of it. Every day should be a special day. So often people save things for "best" or for a special occasion. But every day we wake up again should be a special day, cos one day we won't :-/. So where the nice top, have tha dessert, treat yourself to the good steak.
