Had a great morning at my appointment as my customer told me that she has bought a second shop so needed to see pretty much all my card companies. That is like music to an agents ears and make up for the days when you have no appointments booked in the diary :-) Happy Bunny.
One of the difficulties of being self-employed and on commission only is that it can sometimes feel quite stressful as you aren't getting a regular predictable income. Some months you might have a great run and have lot of appointments and some big orders. But then the month after it could feel like pulling teeth. That in itself can feel like a lot of pressure because your mortgage and bills are coming out of your account whether the funds are there or not. You have all benefits of being able to work around your own schedule and can book
Met Lynne at the Trafford Centre when I eventually found the right car park and we just managed to grab some food in time before the show started. We opted for Tru street food as it had quite a lot of choices and small dishes so we didn't have to sit down to a big meal type thing. I opted for the salt & pepper curly fries and assorted bau taccos. They had 3 different fillings all of which had red chillis on which I didn't notice until I had taken a bite and almost burst a blood vessel my face went that red. Took the rest of them off cos nobody needs that much heat on a Wednesday night!
After food we were in the perfect place to just head down the escalators and out the doors to get to the winter fair and the ice skating show thing (can't remember its name, something like Snowstorm2). Anyway in true my style (just like the salsa class) I must not have completed the last part of the booking process as they needed a QR code which I didn't have. All I had was the email from Buckt confirming I had booked it. After a bit of a tadoo and a hoo haa we managed to get our tickets and go in.
Once we got in the tent I wondered why the hell they didn't just wave us in and be grateful of two extra bums on seats. The circus tent wasn't busy with about 20% of the seats in each area filled. The show itself was good standard but probably more for children so we were missing two little uns. There were lots of different numbers with costume changes that didn't look all shabby and the skating was great standard. Just a shame it wasn't busier as that probably would have created a better atmosphere. There was also acrobatics and performing on the tightrope etc.
It was all over by 7:30pm which was about right for us as we were clapped out by then. The young kids seemed to love it though so if you have small children then I would recommend taking them along.
Outside was a great funfair with lots of rides like a fun house, ghost train, food stalls and all felt very festive. I treated myself to 3 fresh donuts (woud be rude not to). After that it was time to head over to the airport to pick up Andy and his pals coming back from Benidorm.
I called at The Airport hotel as I was a bit early and bspend about 10 mins trying to get on the app to pay for parking. In the end I went inside and asked for change for the machine. She gave me change, back outside, paid parking and then back inside to the bar.
"Can I have a coffee please"
"Sorry the coffee machine's off now"
"Oh right I'll have a fruit cider then"
"Last orders is at 9pm"
Glanced at my watch
"yeah that's fine"
It was five to nine and she has just let me pay for parking for an hour and didn't think to tell me that before I paid?
Straight after serving me she rang the last order bell.
By 9:15pm she was ringing the bell again for people to drink up! What kinda pub closes at 9:30pm? Never heard that before in my life.
Luckily Andy and co were through quick as they only had hand luggage so by the time there were only me and the cleaners left in the pub, it was time to pick them up. Three drop off's and then I was back home and ready for bed. Andy is always so grateful when I do any favours for him, yet he is ALWAYS doing favours for other people and doesn't think twice about it. It's about time he had a few favours back.
