Got myself up, showered and dressed at a snails pace at around 7am as I couldn't really do Yoga or anything as even a downward dog would be impossible with my wrist like it is. I'm gutted though because I wanted to get really good at all the yoga positions before Bali. Hopefully, though it will just be a minor set back and the wrist and ankle will heal and be back to normal within a few days/weeks.
I left the dogs at home as I knew I wouldn't be able to life them both up to get them in the car. I can barely pick up a cup of tea never mind a 10kg dog with my left arm. I drove 75 miles to an appointment just outside Lancaster, as it was on my list as a garden centre and I hadn't been able to meet the buyer so far. Whe I got there I realised that 'garden centre might have been a bit of a stretch description-wise. It was tea room, a small shop and a few shelves of bedding plants. The shop was no bigger than my lounge and there were only a couple of Greeting card spinners.
I showed the buyer who was a lovely lady, all the new Caroline Gardner gifts but I could tell part way through that she was not in a position to place an order as it was a really small shop and she still had stock out. When she said "well thanks for popping in to see me it's good to see them all in person", I thought POPPING IN?? No, we had an appointment and I've driven 75 miles, I don't live round the corner lol. But there is nothing you can do in that situation so I just smiled and said that now she has seen them and has a brochure if she wants to get in touch when she needs an order. At £1.99 litre so fuel I could really have done without going all that way just to 'pop in' so really need to make sure that any future appointments are looking to place and order as if it's just a 'look' they want I will post them a brochure. Really can't afford to be driving 150 miles round trip to come back empty-handed. The problem is she has an online account and she will probably order online when she. is ready to order, which then looks like I've not serviced that customer. Suppliers don't see all the work that goes on behind the scenes to generate orders. For example, once I got all the ranges out, there were lots of products that she said didn't look that great in the brochure and she probably wouldn't have ordered them but will be doing so on her next order.
The thing is I still always try and see it as a positive because this is an account I hadn't been able to get an appointment with previously and had been thinking it was a huge garden centre. I can now update my records so that when suppliers ask about it I can explain it's not the holy grail type garden centre they think it is.
I batch cooked some turkey mince chilli when I got home as I wanted to freeze it so I had some ready meal in and chilli is always much nicer when it's had time to take on all the flavours.
Couldn't take the dogs for a walk as my ankle is still mega sore and I can feel it start to 'crickle' when I put weight on it. Tomorrow should be a good day as I have an appointment at Stringers in Lytham. Fingers crossed it's a nice order for Caroline Gardner to make up for yesterday. It's a lovely drive out if nothing else.
