Day 15 - Where you sleep
Woke up at 5am but didn't get up again! I really need to get back into the habit again of getting up early as I definitely feel the benefit when I am up early and get a head start on the day.
Did a quick whizz round the downstairs to make sure it was tidy before I left and then packed my case. One thing I realised whilst packing is that I need to invest in. some new holiday gear (shorts and T-shirts) for new stuff that's let's call them Size appropriate. (that actually fits lol).
As soon as the packing was done it was time to jump in the car and head over to my Wifey's. The plan was to get to the airport about 4 hours in advance due to the reports of massive queues. We flew down the motorway as the roads were pretty clear. Fi had sorted parking at one of the hotels through one of her airport contacts so we dropped the car off and got the free shuttle to Terminal 3.
Once we got to Terminal 3 we Fast-Tracked it through security and it was time to check-in. Or so we thought lol. The bloody check in didn’t open until 3 hours before so we had to hang around. Alexa tried every tactic going to get someone to open it sooner but no joy lol.
we bumped into Lindsay Morris (as was) from First Choice, what are the chances! It was like we saw her yesterday though, she had two beautiful children who Alexa embarrassed the whole time they were there lol.
Soon as we could we dropped our cases off and went to the Airport Lounge. As we walked through the airport and saw people just say on floors etc cos there w ere no seats, we knew we made the right decision to book the lounge.
Got settled at out reserved table and then had a few him and tonics and some lovely roast chicken and new potatoes ;-) it made such a difference to the start of the holiday being able to just relax and have seats and a table etc.
We were allocated seats all over the plane but as soon as we had taken off and the seatbelt signs went off we managed to all sit on the same row as Fi. The flight went pretty quick as I was listening to apple music as was Fi and Lex was watching a film on her ipad.
Once we landed we tried to get an Uber to the hotel but with no Joy. The drivers kept accepting the job then must have kept canceling. One cheeky bleeder even sent a message saying "if you think I am traveling 20 mins to pick you up Keep on dreaming".
In the end we had to just get one from outside the airport (which is never the cheapest option). It was a 30-minute taxi ride to the hotel and cost us just under €60. Check in was painless and then it was an early night ready to hit the sights tomorrow.
Did a quick video to condense the day into about a minute (for those who just look at the pics and haven't read the blurb lol,
