Really productive day, with two good appointments and so really nice orders, but all I could think about was the evening ahead :-)
Myself and Nicky decided to get the tram to town. Not something I usually do but it was a really nice night so thought we might as well save some money and it's also meant to be a lot fast than getting a taxi or bus as there is obviously no traffic to contend with.
I picked Nicky up in a taxi and then we went to Westwood tram stop. When we arrived there was an Asian family trying to work out how to buy their tickets. I did my best to help them but it wasn't as simple to select multiple tickets as you would think. Anyway, before I could sort it for them, the tram was arriving. We got on and I looked for the "tap on" type machine thing to use my credit card but there didn't seem to be one. the machine inside like you can in London fortunate there was no machine when we got to Manchester then Doctors got on and both myself and NIcky got a £50 fine. Great start to the night!
We met Eddie outside the Bridgewater Hall and went straight in to register for our VIP lanyards.
We grabbed a drink from the bar and managed to find a table. to sit at. While seated I spotted Joshua who's a friend of Toms from the Lowerhouse. He was with a female friend and they came and joined us at our table. He didnt make the best impression on Eddie, who said as much when we left. He was talking about how he Worked for British Airways and how it was the flagship airline and took the Mickey out of Jet2. Eddie happens to work for them for that didn’t go down well. He was also quite belittling about the fact we were wearing our VIP lanyards around our neck (like they are meant to be). Clearly he thinks he is too cool for school and spent most of the time with us half having a conversation and half with his head on a swivel looking at the talent passing by. I asked Joshua if he was in the stalls, to which he replied "oh I don't think so" in a horrified way as if they were bad seats.
We got a bottle of wine and then headed through to the show. We were in the stalls row D, 4 rows from the front. Joshua and his friend were in row F, 2 rows behind us. How do you like them apples bitch !!
I put together a little video of some of the pics I took
We got talking to a lovely couple behind us. We had spotted one of them when we were queueing for drinks and actually thought he was straight. Very fit trade from Newcastle and his Boyfriend was from Liverpool (my two favourite UK accents).
The concert was absolutely amazing. The stage was quite simple it was a giant Todricks head at the back of the stage. Considering Todrick say self-funded and isn’t signed to record label I can completely understand not wanting to overspend on stage sets that would need to transported etc. Needless to say, the choreography was on point and the dancers were amazing. The remixes of the numbers were fantastic the way they seem to blend it from one to another. It wss high energy from start to finish but he also did some heartfelt moments where he explained things have been going on etc. It was so good to be able to watch the concert close up and not be so far back that you end up just watching the whole thing on a TV screen.
I put a little video together of some of the best pics, including some I edited to give a bit of animation to them.
The Bridgewater Hall was a perfect venue for that type of show because it felt more intimate whereas when I watch The Werk the World Tour at the AO Arena it felt very impersonal and far too big for that kind of show. During the show Todrick explained how much appreciated his fans and said he wanted to try and meet as many as possible so said anybody in the interval that whoever purchased two pieces of Merch could also have a photograph with him. When we came out at the end of the show there was this huge queue all the way back to the entrance that just wasn’t moving they had merged all the VIPs with people who just bought merchandise which seems very unfair. We stood in the queue for a bit and then Joshua who was further back in the queue then we were suddenly came over all smiles and "Oh hello gorgeous" with his friend. He was clearly expecting to join us further along in the queue, but I was having none of it. I hate it when people jump the queue when I am behind them so I was going to do it to all the people behind us in the queue. I just told him straight "please don't think you are gonna push in here cos it's not happening". He huffed off all offended as if that hadn't even crossed his mind, yeah right! Not tonight Satan, not tonight!
Eddie wanted to go and I felt bad keeping Nicky standing in the queue for what could be another or something. So I said it didn't matter and I would leave it. I was gutted though as it was the first time I had been able to pay for VIP tickets, it wasnt such a big loss for Nicky and Eddie as they had got thiers for free when Michelle and Jules couldnt make it.
While Nicky nipped to the loo I raised my concerns to a guy on the Merch table and said we had to leave, he happened to be American and was part of the tour entourage. Straightaway he was on it and disappeared then came back and said 'come with me, I'll get you up front' so he took me and Nicky to the front of the queue where a UK woman was quite abrupt and said "well where do you want to be in the queue?" The American guy said "you will put them behind the disabled people and children" which I thought was really nice because it didn’t make us feel awkward. It just shows the complete different attitude Americans have compared to the UK, they just want to make sure you have the best experience all the time. Within 10 minutes Todrick came and we were having our photos taken.
He was so lovely gave me a hug and had a photograph and the photos came out really well thanks to one of his lovely dancers who took them for us. I really don’t envy that type of job for all the celebrity, fame, and money you’re constantly at people's beck and call, having not only just do a two-hour show then he stand there for probably another couple of hours painting on a smile. Having people feel they own a piece of you grabbing hold of you and all the rest of it but he did it effortlessly and with a gorgeous smile, amazing guy.
We came out of the venue at the Eddie didn’t wait around to stay so he went we get out of a new and order a pizza as we are both hungry and we like our food we meet we jumped on the first time we saw going out to Manchester didn’t realise it was that chatting towards Ashton then had to jump off the jam and Arden Uber Uber then cost around 16 quid to home all in all our travel Journey had not been the most successful and had cost us absolute fortune lol. Worth every penny though as it was just the best great show, great night and great company.
