Review - Pure Pet Food

Updated: Apr 27, 2022

Okay, so one of my dogs (Bella) won a year's supply of dog food from Pure Pet Food - YAY !!!

I was so excited as this was going to save me a small fortune in dog food over the next 12 months. Trouble is neither of my dogs like it !! NAY !!!

1: First Impressions

My first Delivery arrived and contained 2 bags of the food which were salmon & beef as well as two scoops. One to measure the dry food and another to measure out the warm water to add to it. There were also instruction cards and a free gift which was a small pouch of chicken treats.

Even though it was my smaller one that won the free food, I had to put both of them on the new food. Otherwise, Bella would just leave her food and try and eat Bonnies.

2: How Have I Tested it

I tested the product as per the guidelines from pure pet foods. I reconstituted the product using warm water and added a little bit to both my dogs existing food. Unfortunately, both dogs took one sniff at it, and then Bonnie (the older dog) walked away. Bella had a little try but then left it.

I tried both flavours but I just ended up having to throw the food away and put out new food from their existing tinned food.

I tried to persevere with it and even used hot water (as suggested) on one occasion to let the 'aroma' fill the air, hoping it would make them both hungry. Obviously, I let the food cool before giving it to them, but this still didn't work. Even though there were two different flavours they both had a very similar smell that neither of the dogs seemed to like. Gutted really as this could have saved me a lot of money.

There are other flavours (Duck & Chicken) so I have ordered those two for the next delivery. Let's hope they like either one of those. I really hope one of these next two are a hit with them as I can then just keep them on that. Review 2 to follow.

3: Pros and Cons

Pros:

Even though I didn't pay for the product if I had it would be good to have something delivered to your door each month without having to keep going out and shopping for it.

The food is dried and in a large bad that you can just use whatever portion size you want, unlike opening a tin and then having a half-used tin in the fridge or wherever that needs to be used.

It's made with natural ingredients that have been air-dried.

Cons:

If I had signed up for this It would have been a minimum of a months worth of food wasted (including the cost for the month).

It's quite a bit more expensive than my regular tinned food.

4: The Final Score

For my dogs, I would sadly have to give it a 4 out of 10 since they won't eat it. I love the packaging and the way it arrives etc. You are kept updated throughout the process of when the order is going to arrive. It's just unfortunate that my two dogs didn't like it. I'm sure dogs that are less fussy than mine would enjoy this.
