Tavern on Tour

As soon as I got up I started loading the car up with everything we needed for the event, including the backdrop and any things we could use for giveaways. I also packed 6 bottles of schnapps and things I had in the bar that we could use for shots. I know the venue had said we couldn't do a free drink on arrival if we brought our own but I thought I would have a word when I got there and ask if doing a welcome shot was okay as it's gone quick and then people will buy a drink.

The drive wasn't as long as I thought it was going to be, for some reason I thought it was about 4 hours to Newcastle but Gateshead was only 2.5 hours. As soon as we got there spoke to the manager, Nicole about doing the shots. She was really nice and said yes it was fine.

We set everything up and wrapped the prizes etc and then went to check in at the hotel, but as soon as we pulled up I could tell it was not the kind of hotel we were expecting. There were people coming and going that looked like crack heads and when we went to check in she said it was a shared bathroom! who would be happy with a shared bathroom unless you are booking a bloody hostel? She said it was an extra £15 for the ensuite rooms. So that meant the room would be £125, we could have booked the premier inn or something for that kind of money. Anyway, she took me down to the room which felt like it was in a basement of something and it was down loads of stairs. I knew my mum wouldn't manage all those stairs and there was no lift. We told them the room wasn't suitable and left. They couldn't organise the refund and said the manager would ring me on Monday.

After looking online we eventually booked into the Travelodge on the Quayside, which was a new build hotel. We had a quick bite to eat and then go ready. Mum insisted it would only take her 10 minutes to get ready (which I knew would never happen). 45 minutes later and she still wasn't ready. I get stressed waiting for other people, especially when I know I'm going to be late. As much as mum said it wouldn't matter if we weren't there for 7pm, I like to be there ready for when people start arriving as I think it's rude that the organisers aren't there first. Anyway once we were there and people started arriving it was easy to relax.

Nicole even did Karaoke for us too, which a lot of people seemed to like as she wasn't short of singers. I plied Nicole with shots during the night so that she didn't mind me carrying on providing them until the bottles were empty ;-)

After the event finished a few of us headed into town to a club. According to my phone I go in at about 5am :-/ Yikes ! lol

I've uploaded all the pics onto the Tavern Gallery, just click to view.
