Got up early and made me and Kirsty a sausage butty, fresh orange and a coffee before I headed off to Birmingham. The traffic was really quiet with it being a Sunday so got to the NEC in plenty of time. We only have 3 of our suppliers at the show so Rachel has stayed home so she can look after her mum and I have come on my own.
The show seemed busier than some of the previous ones I have been to and hopefully will be busier again tomorrow. Lots of new stuff from :-
Laura Darrington and
After the Show I headed over to my hotel to check-in. Easier said than done. I missed the entrance to the hotel 3 times and was up and down the motorway like a fool. It wasn't very well signposted so was an easy mistake. Anyway, I eventually checked in, freshened up and the drove to the restaurant. Cinnamon Aitch were taking all the agents out to dinner at Alchemist which is a lovely bar (review to follow).
They do some great cocktails with dry ice etc and even do a nice selection of non-alcohol cocktails so you don't feel like you are missing out. I had a marmalade Mocktail and then later a bubblegum one complete with bubbles when you poured the two glasses together. I love anything with a bit of theatre it makes it al more interesting.
For starters I had the electric pink salmon (curred in beetroot) which was like a beef carpaccio but with salmon. he for min bang bang chicken salad with salt and pepper fries. All the food was gorgeous and I probably could have squeezed in a dessert. but nobody else was having one so I jus got a bar of chocolate from the hotel vending machine when I got back.
It was a great night and only cost me £4 for parking, no taxis both ways or lots of drinks at the bar like normal. I didn't feel any different not drinking than I would have if I'd had a few real cocktails. The company was great and I was still my normal loud, talking at 100 miles an hour and entertaining the crown self lol.
Got home at about 11pm and went straight to bed. I've decided I will watch he Happy Valley finale when I get home tomorrow instead of on my laptop where it won't be as easy to see everything.
