South Carolina - Day 8

Today we went to visit Susan and Paul out in the country. They have a double trailer on a lot of land as Paul owns a lot of the land in the area. I think about 30 acres or something. It seems really strange how much land people have with their property. Their children have property across the street and next door. When I saw next door, it's not like our next door where it's almost joined on, it's a walk away. They would be shocked to see how little space we have with each house in the UK.

While we sat out on the front porch there were hummingbirds flying about and drinking from the hanging nectar feeders around he porch. It was so nice sitting out in the shade watching them fly around chasing each other.

Susan had made cheese and ham sliders and honey cake for lunch for us all. I love how everyone cooks all the time and has family around etc. After lunch we went to see the goats and feed them. They have a baby goat that isn't very old so still really small. They also had 3 dogs, 2 of which I think were black labs and he other was a lovely husky with the most amazing eyes.

They had lots of crops growing in the garden including Corn, Peppers, tomatoes, Blueberry's, Squash, green beans and lots of other things. I would love to live that kind of life growing my own vegetables but we just don't get the weather in the UK for crops like that to survive.

Around tea time we headed back to Sumter to Aunty Joans house. We just had time for a little nap and then Cindy came to pick us up to have dinner at their house.

Cindy made a lovely spaghetti sauce and pasta for dinner with garlic bread and salad. Then we had coconut cream pie for dessert. I think I can say my healthy eating and diet have well and truly gone out the window since I have been here. But I can pick it back up again when I get home. You can't watch the calories when you are on vacation ;-)
