South Carolina - Day 2

Had the best nights sleep since leaving the Uk. I think a combination of the really comfy bed and the fact I feel that whatever hair a now I am not facing it on my own helped.

I the morning we went Blueberry picking? Which is something I have not done before. I think some kid the family thought that would be something I wouldnt want to do when Lesley had suggested it. Quite the opposite Inlove doing anything that I be not done before. To be honest Ben things I had done already I am happy doing. I just think it’s nice they have even planned things for me to do.

After picking plenty and eating just as many we headed over to Costco to get supplies for the weekend. We are going over to the lake house for a few days which sounds amazing. I am going to get up really early while we are there to see the sunrise and also hopefully see some nice sunsets too.

Where they live is so nice I am going to try and go for a run while I am here to see the neighbourhood as it’s just low you see on the TV with house really spaced apart and long drives. It’s a gorgeous place. I think the plan is to do the lake house then go see Ainty Joan’s in Sumter for a few days. Then come back here for the 4th of July celebrations so Inam close by for the airport home. Aunty Joan said I haven’t come for long enough but I would have felt like I was imposing staying longer, they are so hospitable though and I’m looking forward to seeing more of the extended family at the weekend.

The definitely have a closer family bond than we do in the UK. Lesley has a family journal that gets past around from oldest you youngest where they Putnam entry about heir life at that point then pass it on. I think it’s such a great way to keep memories alive and would be lovely to read back through. I might ask if she can scan a few pages and send me when I’m hope so I can keep up to date.

After we unpacked Lesley made another lovely dinner. She cooks fresh every night and it’s so nice to see in the age of convenience food. I love fresh vegetables so will definitely eat well. They serve the food buffet style too which I thinking a much better idea then people don’t say they have been overfaced or not had what they like etc. I should do this when we have Sunday dinner at mine.

After dinner we went to a salsa Rueda class (I think that’s what it’s called). Chelsea and her fiancé Lucas picked us up. There was a beginners class first which I almost managed to keep up with. Then the advanced on straight after. I sat out the advanced one as didn’t want to hood people up. I’m glad I did not was very fast lol. I would have just crashed into everyone.

After Salsa we headed home and drove through the neighbourhood and I definitely could live somewhere like this. I might need to win the lottery to afford it though.

We stayed up chatting for a while an Aunty Joan told me lots of stories from when she was younger. There is so much history I don’t even know I wish we could capture all the stories for future generations etc. it strange listening her talk about my grandma as a young girl/woman as I only even knew her as an old lady and my grandma. You forget people have lived exciting lives before they got old.
