Review: Goodboy Wagtastic Chewy Chicken Twists

Updated: Sep 18, 2022

I usually buy the chicken and carrot version of good boy treats as I like the fact they are getting vegetables and also that there is no rawhide. Not many treats that they can chew and last a while are not rawhide usually.

Anyway, I saw another pack by the same company but these were just chicken twists. I thought these might last longer as they appeared to have chicken breast on the outside and what I guessed was reformed chicken in the middle. I glanced at the front and it said "Lovingly made with 100% natural chicken breast" so I thought, great they sound perfect.

Now the key word here is WITH and not made FROM, which is only one word but means a whole lot of difference. What they mean is where they use chicken it will be 100% chicken breast. NOT that the whole thing is made FROM 100% chicken breast.

Anyway unbeknown to me I was giving my dogs a treat with rawhide in it (which I never do because Bonnie nearly choked on a rawhide chew when she was younger). 5/10 minutes into the chomping and Bella (my youngest, the Shitzu) started coughing like she had something stuck. I looked and saw this chewed-up thing sticking out of her mouth and immediately knew it was rawhide. I had to literally prise her mouth open and pull it from her and out came this long unraveled piece that had been half down her throat. The poor dog was probably confused as she was wondering why I was taking her treat off her, even though it was making her gag.

I am SO angry. When I looked on the back it said 60% chicken and 30% rawhide. How come when it's with carrot they are happy to mention it because it sounds nice and healthy yet when 30% of it is rawhide they are allowed to forget to mention this? Disgusted with them and won't buy these again. I will even look for something else to buy instead of the chicken and carrot ones to boycot them.

Definitely DO NOT recommend these as rawhide like that is so dangerous as its all twisted up in one long piece and once they start chewing it the twist comes unraveled and gets longer and longer and is quite hard for them to bite through.

I would give them ZERO stars if it wasn't for the fact that it does contain chicken breast like they say.
