I really wish people would find a different way to honor someone's memory who has passed. I really hate with a passion this whole balloon-releasing ceremony that seems to have grown in popularity. Trust me they don't go up to heaven, they don't reach your loved ones. Instead, they reach a certain height and then burst. They then fall to the ground and end up in rivers, in fields etc and are often eaten by wildlife or fish etc. Even if they don't get eaten they are just another form of plastic to sit around waiting to break down, which will probably take 100's of years. That's not to even mention all the curling ribbon on the balloons that birds and other animals can get tangled in. It's not an organised balloon release, it's group littering.
It would be so much more impactful to all plant a tree or throw seed bombs to make a patch of wasteland an area of natural beauty.
I am letting it be known now, that if anything ever happens to me I WILL NOT appreciate a balloon-releasing ceremony. Unless they are made from compostable material and filled with wildflower seeds, so that when they burst they spread colour where they fall. Better still fill them with birdseed to feed the birds when they burst.
Please check out this website that has lots of information about the negative impact Balloons have on the environment.
That's today's Random Rant lol.
