To try and help me stay on the right path with my health and fitness journey I have downloaded a FREE app to enable me to track the calories I am consuming each day. The app is called Fatsecret and is really easy to use as you can scan barcodes or search for food items manually. I have a daily allowance of 1900 calories a day which is quite a lot really, however, I know for a fact that I have been eating WAY more than that for quite some time. Now that I am tracking them, it really helps me make better choices. I am not going so strict that I can't stick to it and if I want a bag of crisps I am having them but I am making sure they fall within my allowance. That way I am not depriving myself of things I like as I know myself and know I would only end up binging as soon as I say I can't have it.
My worst time of the day is in the evening so I am trying to take Bella out for a walk later on when I get a craving, then I am not sat on the sofa thinking about what I could snack on.
I have also signed up for a challenge in October for Mind, a mental health charity, to do 10,000 steps every day in October. That too is making me realise how inactive I am on a regular day and so I have already started monitoring my step so that I know what it will take to hit 10k a day. If you feel like getting a bit more active why not sign up on the link HERE . If that's not your thing and you don't think you could manage 10,000 steps a day, it would be great if you could sponsor me? No amount is too small it all helps, just click the donation link HERE
Had a really tasty salad bowl for lunch and they usually end up filling me up enough so that I don't pick so much in between meals. I enjoy salads as I always try to make them interesting so could eat them often. Where I usually go wrong is with the dressings that are often loaded with calories. My favourite dressing is the satay one I make but I know it probably has a lot of hidden fats and calories, so this time I made the dressing with lemon juice, oil and vinegar.
I am hoping that when I go on holiday that now I don't have the alcohol to contend with and won't be consuming lots of extra empty calories I can focus on eating well and getting in some exercise. I definitely want to try and get an early morning swim in each day as I won't have any hangovers to deal with, plus my morning yoga. So let's hope the holiday does me some good and I come back feeling refreshed and motivated.
