Day 28 - A Door
This was a really solid wooden door I just had to photograph on my trip to Beijing.
I woke up nice and early to get all my stuff taken to the venue. I met Andy at the rugby club car park so we could go and get the balloons in his van as I wasn't sure how much space they would take. We picked up the balloons from Failsworth and got to the venue for 12 pm only to find out that it was actually closed and I couldn’t do anything until 4 o’clock when it was open.
While I was out the cleaners came, I'd already stripped both beds so when I got home both beds had been made and everywhere had been given a bit of us spruce up ready for when Layla and Viv arrived which is perfect timing.
I got all my stuff ironed and everything and then I picked mum up at about 3pm once Layla and Viv arrived. I dropped mum off at mine so she could start getting ready and then Viv came with me to put the banner up, so we had a nice backdrop for the photographs on arrival and also put all the balloons on the tables. We put the banner near the entrance so it’s easy to get people to have photographs as soon as they arrived. The cake and cupcakes looked amazing really bright colours, very me.
Once we were all ready we got 5-seater minibus back to the venue. The room looked really nice with the soft lighting, the black table cloths and gold and black Balloons.
There was such a good turn out which I was so pleased about and lots of people arrived early which always makes the night feel better. It felt like the night just flew by, cos I was on like meet and greet duty for the first two hours so I literally just had a chance to have an arrival photo with people and then the next guests had arrived and were ready for a photo. I was overwhelmed by the turnout people from Theatre Workshop came, from First Choice, Taverners came as well as friends and neighbours.
The one thing I was disappointed about though was the lack of family members that came (or should I say didn't come). Our Julie And Chris were the only ones from the Ogden side and none of the Greenwood side of the family came. The party was announced back in January so it's not like people didn't have time to plan for it. But I guess the people that wanted to be there were there and that's the important thing.
The night went so quick, the second part of the night was just a blur. I'm sure most. of that was to do with the fact that everyone was buying me drinks all night. I was bowled over by the number of presents and before you know it was time to get a taxi home.
Martin Sykes the photographer did a great job and captured pics of everyone on arrival and then got shots of people around the room. He had to leave around 9:30pm as he had a wedding the next day, but that's sometimes a bad thing as you don't get all the drunk people at their worst later on lol. There were loads of photos both in colour and black and white and you can download them from the photo album link below.
