Chrismas!
Woke up at the usual time and emptied some stuff out of my car as I had o head to Rachels and then she was going to drive us to the Giftwrap UK Christmas Sales presentation meeting. I decided before I even set off that no matter what subjects were brought up today that I would just try and keep quiet. In meetings, I am often the most vocal person and can't help but get passionate about things I feel are unjust or wrong. I've realised though that it is pointless as the decisions have already been made and when they do ask for feedback, they don't actually want it. They ask for it and if you give any they immediately jump on the defensive and start to try and make you feel bad for raising the point in the first place. Better to have an easier meeting and just agree with everything they say. I'm going to let someone else be seen as the rouble causer for a change. It's that old saying about worrying about the things you are able to change, and not about the things you can't and the wisdom to know the difference. I can't remember the exact words.
The traffic was horrendous on the way to Rachels and a 3o minute journey took an hour. Once we hit the road to Shefford it wasn't too bad and we took the toll road to cut out some of the queues. We got to their offices at 11:05 (we had said we'd be there for 11am so not bad going really.
There were lots of nice products for Christmas this year and I can't wait to get selling them. It just feels like at the moment we are working against some companies and not working with them. The best company we work for is Caroline Gardner as they email us straight away if someone enquires via the website so that we can check other stockist that might be close by, before we approve the account. We can then make an appointment to go and see them and we are fully aware of all accounts in our area. A couple of suppliers now are getting greedy and think its a smart move to not let us know about direct orders. They don't see the work we put in behind the scenes, like social media posts that may have driven the customer to their website. It's so frustration bu it's sometimes a battle for another day.
Got back to Mums' at 6:30pm and just had time to set up my laptop for market research via zoom about the cost of living and what the government should be prioritising etc.
By the time I finished I wasn't int he mood for pancake so just came home and went straight to bed (goosed).
