If you ain't got that SWING.
Did as I set out and woke up at 5am this morning. Okay, that's a lie I snoozed the alarm until 5:30 which I was annoyed about once I got up, but it's a start I guess. Jumped in the shower, had my espresso, and texted Layla to see if she was up and ready for yoga at 7am. No reply. So rather than use that as an excuse not to do it, I went onto youtube and searched for my favourite Yoga instructor, Adrienne and did a short 2o minute session with her.
Straight after that I took the dogs out and went to the park with them so they could run about. I even took the opportunity to have a go on the swing, as it's something I haven't done since my teens lol. I think I had almost forgotten how to get momentum on a swing and in the end had to give myself a kick start by pulling it right back before I sat on it. I actually think that's probably how most people start I had just forgotten and tried to get it going from a standstill lol.
Sometimes it can be the little things that bring us the most joy.
When I got back I made a bacon sandwich, but I forgot I had bought unsmoked bacon medallions, which to me just don't have that bacon kick if they aren't smoked. So I added some bacon flavour seasoning to them to give them that smoked taste lol. I couldn't help but notice the irony of adding bacon flavouring to bacon but if it taste good why not?
Later in the day, I posted a blog into the tavern about depression as I thought it might help some people who could maybe relate to it. I was staggered by the number of comments it got. Ros (one of the Beavers from The Tavern) asked how you go about helping someone else who is struggling when you yourself also struggle with your own mental health. It reminded me of an analogy I often use about the ocean, so I thought I would type that up too. Even if my blog posts help just one person then that is a good thing.
Jason messaged me to see if I wanted dinner with him tonight as he'd bought two rib-eye steaks. It was such a welcome treat. W had a glass of red wine while it was cooking and then Steak, Brocolli, Kale, New Potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding, on the vine roasted tomatoes and Peppercorn sauce. It was so nice and also made a chance for someone else to cook for me.
We had quite a good catch up and chatted about what we wanted in the future etc, as Jay has been doing a lot with cryptocurrencies and investing in different ones etc. He is hoping to have financial freedom in the next 5 years ( you read it here first). I was saying how my next goal is to get my mortgage paid off and then get equity released from my house as I don't see the point in sitting on a house paid up when I have no children to leave it to etc. the plan is to travel/be aborad in our winter months and come back to my house for the summer.
We don't get together half as much as we should. I think when someone lives so close by you almost take it for granted. Jay is off on his hols with his friend Walter but when he gets back I'm going to suggest we plan a regular catch up like going out for food once a month or even just taking turns cooking again like we used to. Time can fly by so quickly and before you know it months have passed and you've not made time for each other.
