If I had what they had

Happy New Year!!

I woke up feeling fresh as a daisy and no hangover for the first time in I don't know how many years. It made staying home alone last night all worthwhile.

I got up and got to work cleaning the kitchen and then I used my meat slicer to slice up the ham I'd cooked on Friday and packaged it up into a few foil parcels so me and mum had some for sandwiches. Then I used the other half of the joint to cut into chunks for the pea and ham soup. Once it was cooked I blitzed it with the hand blender and then made some dumplings to put in it. You can't beat a 'Little Dumplin' :-) I portioned up the soup into foil containers I'd bought from Tesco so that I could give some to various people. I left Jay a portion on his doorstep inside a plastic bag as he didn't answer his phone (suspect he had a late night/early morning). After I had allocated some for everyone I still had a few portions left but it was all still hot so I couldn't put it in the fridge or freezer so I left them all in the porch to cool down. I knew that the porch was really cold so after they had cooled it would be as good as being in the fridge overnight while I stayed out.

I took some down for mum and a portion for Kirsty for when she came home. They I left Bella with mum for company while I went to Alexa and Fi's and took then two portions so they could have one each.

Spent the night at Alexa and Fi's with their two friends from Gran Canaria Lunda and Debs. Alexa made us all a gorgeous Sunday roast and it was just what I needed. She cooked dinner for everyone and wouldn't hear of anybody helping as she just wanted everyone to relax in the lounge. It makes a change having a meal that I've not had to cook for myself and it always tastes so much nicer when someone else has made it. There was plenty of veg so I said it would make nice bubble and squeak tomorrow.

After dinner we had a lovely white chocolate and raspberry roulade made with meringue not sponge so it was really light and night over facing and heavy.

We had a few drinks and then it was time to watch the first episode of the brand new Season 3 of 'Happy Valley'. Oh my god, it certainly didn't disappoint, apart from the fact we now have to wait a week for the next installment. The girls went up to bed and me and Fi had a couple of hours on the PS4 playing Warzone2 Call of Duty.

I really love the relationship Alexa & Fi have. Lex knows that Fi likes to play on the PS4 but rather than it becoming an issue she is just happy to go and watch telly in bed because she knows it makes Fi happy. Some people wouldn't be so accommodating and make it into an argument. They are definitely my relationship goal. They are just so compatible and considerate of each other. Having lived with them I can honestly say that even if they have words, they don't let it drag on and usually end up laughing it off once they have said their bit. I would consider myself very lucky if I had anything like the kind of relationship Alexa and Fi have.

Around half-twelve we headed up to bed.
