Woke up Bright and early not feeling rough and glad I came home early. Rachel picked me up at 10 am to go to the trade show at Harrogate. It was a lovely drive over but I could tell it was going to be warm inside the exhibition halls and tents. We grabbed brunch from M&S on the way so we didn't have to the ridiculous trade show prices, plus we wouldn't need a break for lunch then either.
Luckily we are only only had two suppliers there which were Caroline Gardner and Ziggle. The tent that Caroline Gardner was in is usually really hot but they must’ve cranked up the air-conditioning due to the forcast high temperatures. The same couldn’t be said for the whole of Ziggle were in , it was a really small stand so couldn’t really get two people on without blocking customers' access.
They had some lovely new stuff on Caroline Garnder so I did a bit of modeling of the new products lol. I'm such a knob.
We stayed till 430 and then called it a day. I was going to go back tomorrow but seeing as tomorrow and Tuesday are supposed to be up in the 90's I've decided to take the 2 days off and enjoy the weather. We don't get a lot of this kind of weather in this country and it's forecast rain and storms from Wednesday so I'm making the most of it.
This country really makes me laugh because everywhere else has constant temperatures of over 100•F yet as soon as we get anything approaching that there’s an all-out underworld scenario. We’ve had extreme weather warnings for days now and scaremongering the computer is it gonna stop working in fridges overheat etc. It’s a joke really but we can’t contend with anything other than grey and miserable.
Ellie from Caroline Gardner lives in Bahrain now and she was laughing about the extreme weather warnings on the way over. She said 'this would be a mild day for us'. I just checked and over there today the temp is 44 degrees or 118 degrees when you do that daft double and add 30 thing.
All this talk of temperatures though got me wondering? Why do we have to have temperatures in centigrade and then convert them into Fahrenheit why not just do everything in Fahrenheit cause it's all we really want to know at the end of the day. It just seems like an extra thing to work out and calculate that’s not really necessary? Any ideas? Or is it just one of the old things like imperial measurement that we try to hang on to for no real reason?
