We both woke up last night at around 3am. I heard Viv stirring so checked if she was awake and so we ended up having a little snacklet and chat before trying to get some more sleep. When we woke up properly we got showered then realised we'd missed breakfast at the hotel so nipped across the street to Macdonads before they finished too. I know we had said we would avoid big chains that we had in the UK but needs must when you just need something you can put a name to in the morning.
We then jumped on the train to Tung Chung which was just on the orange line from Olympic station. This was only at the bottom of our street and across a bridge. Once we got to Tung Chung we headed towards the cable cars to visit Ngong Ping 360 which was a village over the other side of the mountains that had temples and also The Giant Buddha.
The weather wasn't the best, but it held out for most of the day. By the time we got to the village we wanted some lunch so had what was meant to be chicken fillet teriyaki. I don't know what fillet they used but it was more like faty scrag end chicken to me (which I hate).
After we finished lunch we set off to walk up to the Bug Buddah after a quick look around the temple. The rain had started to come down but nothing too heavy, until we got back down to the bottom of the steps, then the heavens opened and it started to thunder and lightning.
They cancelled the cable cars because of the bad weather so we had to get a bus shuttle back to the station instead. It all adds to the adventure though. The bus only took about 30 minutes which wasn't much longer than the cable cars.
I think when I get home I am going to buy one of those lightweight packamaks that fold up into a small pouch. They are always handy to take away with you in case the weather is bad and don't weigh a lot.
The pic on the left is the view from the train back to where we are staying.
Once we got back to the hotel we had a quick shower to freshen up and then went and got some street food from one of the places across the road. We ate it outside in the little park area with an outside gym and seating.
I opted for fried rice and some dim steaming prawn dumplings and Viv went for Shumi and some vegetable dumplings.the rice was nice but needed some curry sauce lo.
Back to the hotel to pack as we have to be up at 5am to get our flight tomorrow to South Korea.
