Took Bella out for a nice run on the field at the bottom of the street so she would be tired out for mum when I dropped her off.
Drove into Manchester in plenty of time so I wasn't rushing through the station like a fool and parked up at the station car park. It's a lot more expensive but at least when I get home I don't have to trek for ages to get back to the car after already shlepping from London. The train was already in when I got into the station and I managed to get a seat with a table and power socket so I could keep my phone charged up. I had forgotten my book at home which would have let me pass the time reading instead of having to stare at a computer screen.
The train journey went okay until it got to Rugby, but then there had been an earlier problem with the overhead lines which must have caused a bit of a backlog. The train ended up in. a queue for a while and was about 45 minutes late by the time we got to Ampthill. I don't usually stress over being delayed when I can't do anything about it, but I was more concerned about keeping poor Tracey waiting for me at the station. I kept her updated by text so she knew where I was etc. I don't know who they employed to record the train announcements but I feel like he is talking to you like you are completely thick, overemphasising every station name :-/
We got back to Tracey's and dropped off my bag then went out for dinner at a lovely little Italian in her village called Fratelli. We had some garlic and rosemary bread to share to start with and then both opted for the chicken with dauphinoise potatoes. The potatoes weren't really dauphinoise as they weren't in a creamy garlic sauce, they were more like a kind of thinly sliced braised potatoes. They also had rosemary in them so felt a but samey after the bread. Still very tasty though and needless to say I ate the lot, and then we shared a lemon tart with chocolate gelato.
Fed and watered we headed back to Tracey's and pretty much went straight to bed after a long day of travelling for me.
