Work was a slog today trying to get appointments. I think when it is so hot the shops are so quiet that they cant even think about ordering more stock and they certainly don't want to think about Christmas in this heat. I just try and email out to people so they have stuff to look at ready for when I do see them.
Had two enquiries about the Tavern Directory who both want to pay for 6 months, so that's a good start. I think once people see people adding on it will gather momentum (fingers crossed).
Went up to the Saddleworth Hotel to test my laptop on their setup for tomorrow night. In the past, they have had a glass screen on the bridge that is kind of like a matrix-style thing. It's completely see-through from both sides but has the Virtual DJ projected onto the glass somehow. It looks great and everybody wants to watch you DJ but it was always fraught with problems. It would either crash or freeze as it felt as though it wasn't earthed properly. you also got people trying to mess with it if you nipped to the loo etc and start pressing the screen. Thankfully when I got there it was the old setup on the laptop in the corner. It's much better doing it there as I am used to my laptop so don't have any new systems to learn. The only thing I needed to do was plug into their system but they had bought a new external sound card so I had to get their technical guy to talk me through downloading the relevant drive on my laptop. It. was quite straight forward and we did a quick test and it worked fine.
It was good seeing Scott and Daniella as I haven't seen them in absolutely ages. They have made a lot of changes during lockdown and the restaurant is now an Italian with a private dining area too. It looks lovely. I need to make more of an effort to go up there and see them.
I'm looking forward to DJing again tomorrow night, it's been a while and I like the challenge of getting people on the dancefloor and making sure they have a good night.
