From Loo Roll to Gastro

Went into Manchester to do market research with mum for toilet tissue. We had to be there for 9:30am but got into town quite early so went to Costa for breakfast. The testing was to give opinions on the quality of various samples of loo roll that would be suitable for the workplace. To be honest all of them were pretty thin and not very soft or anything.

Straight after that, I headed home to get ready for lunch with Elena. She wanted to go to a new place she had found called The Fleece. It was a country-type pub with a nice homely feel. Quite often pubs that become popular have a refurb and go all modern and bright and lose all their character and charm.

We got there early and was shown straight to our table. Elena recognised the waitress Emma who has served her last time. She was really friendly and looked after us during our stay. They even had Witley Neil 0% gins available which is quite ahead of their time as many city centre pubs haven't even switched on to that market yet. I had a Rhubard and gine 0% gin and tonic. You couldn'ty even tell the differnce between a 0% and normal G&T. I will definitely be buying some for the shed bar. I said to Elena the end goal will be to have 50/50 option of most drinks in the bar so half of them 0% and half normal. That way people can still feel involved and have a choice of drinks even if they are not drinking alcohol. I will just ask people to bring a 0% alternative if I already have some and they can drink the normal booze.

I had chilli prawns for a starter on a piece of sourdough with oli oli and it was really tasty and so well presented. For main I had halibut with a muscle and lobster cream sauce, gnocchi and vegetables and samfire. It was bloody lovely. Elena had fillet steak and luckily for me she doesn't eat as much these days so I got to try some of that too :-)

I ordered the caramel chocolate delice for dessert but Emma brought the carrot cake by mistake. Anyway, fortunately for me she said to keep it and she would bring out the delice next. As luck would have it the carrot cake was actually nicer than what I had ordered as the delice was a bit on the sickly side. Far too rich for me for the size of it. Needed some cream or a cherry sorbet or something sharp to cut through the richness. Still managed to finish both though but felt over-stuffed by the end. One dessert would have been enough lol.

It was lovely to have lunch out and catch up with Els as we have been like passing ships for a month or so trying to sync our diaries with no joy.

Caught up on my expenses again so that I only have the current week left to do each week. Everything feels so much easier and less stressful when you are on top of it and do things as you go along instead of letting them pile up.

Me and Fi had our regular PS4 meet up until about 11pm as we both wanted an early night.
