Wandsworth - Day 5 - The Lido

Updated: Jan 11, 2023

We got up at about 10am and started getting ready for the Lido. It's amazing how quickly time goes when 3 of you need to eat breakfast, have a coffee and shower, and get dressed. By the time we got there it was 12pm and the tickets only really gave us until 2:30pm as they close it for an hour and then people can book afternoon tickets from 3:30pm until close.

I've never been to a Lido before and it just felt like being overseas or something. The sun was really hot, you just found a space and put your towels down and then that was your little pitch for the session.

They had a snack place on-site too where you could get drinks and food so we all got a sandwich each for lunch. I'm not really a big sunbather so after a dip in the pool and lay in the sun for a bit, it was time to leave. That was probably about the right time for me to be lying in the sun. Even though I'd put sun cream on I could still tell I had caught the sun a bit.

Next to finish off the trip we headed to Richmond Park for a bit. The grass had all gone brown with the sun being on it for quite a few days. They obviously get more good weather in the south than we do up north as when I spoke to mum she said it was dull and overcast.

After an hour or so at the Park it was time to head back so we could have some dinner before I headed back home.

Layla & Kirsty dropped me at Vauxhall tube station and then I jumped on the tube to Euston. My train was delayed but only by about 20 minutes. I got back to Manchester Picadilly at 10:30pm and then headed to mums to check in on her and the dogs. I had to leave them with her though as I have a drag bottomless brunch tomorrow so won't be in most the afternoon.
