Well, it just goes to show you can't let the weather determine your mood or the kind of day you are going to have. When I woke up it looked like a horrible day ahead and these were the views I was met with. The first pic looks like there isn't a lot of snow but there is a step down normally so it's about 8 inches at the front door.
I obviously canceled my appointment to Cumbria as soon as I woke up to the thick snow outside as there was no way I was taking my life in my hands on treacherous country roads and grid-locked motorways on a Friday. I messaged Andy to say I didn't think I would be able to even get off my street so maybe our film Friday and tapas would have to be postponed. Apparently, though it was clear up near him as the main roads had been gritted so we agreed to review it at lunchtime and see how much of my drive I had managed to clear.
Read a few chapters of this month's book over my morning coffee. I love my Breville one cup especially when it's just me as it's not only quicker than boiling a kettle but also more cost-effective. It only boils the one cup of hot water rather than a full kettle. If you live on your own I would highly recommend one of these. Order yours HERE
By lunchtime, the sun had been shining for hours and started to melt a lot of the snow and I had summed up the motivation to clear the drive with my snow shovel. Before you knew it the day was looking a lot brighter and Film Friday was back on.
I nipped out to Tesco and bought ingredients for a few of my staple tapas dishes as well as a Spanish meat and cheese selection. I also picked up some 0% Koperbergs and wine so I could feel like I am joining in the evening with Andy and Becky who would be drinking. I only managed to get one pic of any of the food. I really need to start remembering to capture my days events in pics for my blog posts.
I had taken Bella up with me who settled in nicely once we got there and she'd had a nosey around the house. I'm so glad I don't live up on the tops in a stone farmhouse like Andy and Becky, you really feel the cold. I'm spoiled in my new build house with central heating and not being exposed to the elements. I really don't know how I am going to get on with Iceland later this month as it's going to be even colder. Tonight made me realise I better order myself some thermals to wear under my clothes and coms warm gloves. It sounds daft but it's always a different kind of cold when you are on holiday in a cold country. I think it's maybe because you arent thinking about going to work etc and have packed winter clothes so are more prepared.
Took a few pics of the lovely views from Andy's front door. It was a lovely night with great company and we watched a movie after dinner with some popcorn. What I loved was that after a night out I could just jump in the car and drive home. No waiting for taxis for ages because of the bad weather. Every time I go anywhere and save money by not drinking I am going to put the money I saved into my holiday fund for Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
