Okay so I don't believe in just giving up when you stumble as I knew that I had this day planned in already before I decided to start the health kick. I've also got six by nico booked for tomorrow but I thought rather than just putting off making a start until Monday, something is better than nothing.
Lynne picked me up at 11am and we headed over to hers so Lucy could pick us up from there to take us to The Ascot Ladies Day at The White Hart.
The outfit I wore was tight at best and it was a really hot say so I didn't feel the comfiest all day. If I needed anything to spur me on to lose weight that was it.
It was a gorgeous day and really hot so the jacket lasted just long enough to grab some photos then it was on the back of the chair the whole day. It was a great day seeing everyone, all Lynne's friends are lovely so even the ones I hadn't met made me feel welcome and were lovely. Met Julie for the first time, she is so funny I really got along with her.
Have to say I was really disappointed with the food at the white hart. It used to always be top notch and spot-on every time but it really seemed below par. The Lunch was okay but the afternoon tea was terrible, The sandwiches were like cheap bread with the crust cut off and cut in half. They didn't look 'dainty' at all and for me should have been cut into 3 small fingers, both were meat, one beef one ham,. The beef was a bit chewy so you took one bite and most the meat came with it. It would also have been better with one meat and one fish, cheese or egg to give variety. The scones were overcooked and really hard and dark in colour, more like rock cakes. The small chocolate tarts were basically a mini version of the ones from Lunch filled with a rich dark ganache, and chocolate eclairs that had the same dark chocolate ganache on them. Call me old-fashioned but for me, a chocolate eclair needs to be milk chocolate, plus too much dark chocolate ends ups really rich and sickly. I wasn't the only one unimpressed I heard a few people comment on the below-par offering. I mean how hard are buttie and cakes to get right?
I didn't really pay attention to the racing and just waited for someone to tell me if I had won or not (I didn't). I did, however, win a raffle prize and just before it was drawn I said "I'll win this I'm really lucky with raffles" lol. A nice hamper with a bottle of Bacardi and some other bits in it too, I can't remember properly as I gave it to Lynn to take home for safe keepings or I would have ended up leaving it there.
Here's a video of most of the pics to sum up the day...
Lynne went on to see Barry Manilow and me, Elena and Louise went to Mazzo for a meal (still hungry lol).
As I had gotten a head start this morning with Yoga etc I still managed to close all 3 rings in my watch. Not sure that cancelled out all the food & drink I guzzled but it's better than being sat on a sofa all day but still eating and drinking that much.
