Egypt - Day 1 - Travelling

Up early and had a quick coffee and checked I had all my essential in my hand luggage (passport, money etc). Set off to Eddie in plenty of time so we could hopefully be there 3 hours before. Traffic was quite bad getting to Eddie’s so we lost some time on the first part of our journey. Then once I got Eddie they had shut off the M60 due to an accident so we sat in traffic for about an hour. By the time we parked in the staff car park and got to the airport it was 10:50 and the flight was 11:50. Luckily though the airport was empty so we got straight to check in with no queue and the same for security straight through. I just had time to literally grab some fragrance (the first I could see for £19.99). I always buy a sale one to take away so the smell reminds me of the holiday.

We went straight to the gate and by the time we had nipped to the loo it was boarding. Slightly more rushed then I would have liked but it meant no waiting around and we got there on time so all good.

Eddie had brought a bag of celebrations for the crew as he usually knows someone and as it happened knew the cabin manager, Matt.

We took our seats and were across the aisle from each other and both sharing our rows with other people but the flight wasn't full. The crew at the back moved us to exit seats before take off and we had a row to ourselves with an empty seat between us which was great for bags and food on the middle table. Always look after your crew is my top travel tip ;-)

We were looked after by Matt and the team and the flight flew by and before you knew it we were landing. The flight went pretty quick by the time we’d had food and a nap or two.

By the time we landed it was evening and pretty dark. Passport conrol was quick with no queues. The luggage took a bit to come off but nothing major. Oh and make sure  take £25 in English money for your landing card.

Once through our private transfer, you had a board with our names on and you hen we weren’t the hotel. It said 45 mins online but our driver thought he was in training for formula 1 so we did it in about 25 mins lol. As far as the roads go they have lanes on the road but it felt more like whacky races. The way I can liken it is , you know when you come through the toll booths and suddenly there. Is a big road with no lanes and everyone scrambles for a space. It’s kind like that. If there is a gap and you can get in it then it doesn’t matter that it’s only 3 lanes you make it 4 lol.

Check-in was smooth and we had time to drop our cases at the room and unpack. Then we were booked on a late dinner in the restaurant. It looked like a kind of trimmed down version of dinner with only part of it  open and less choice. It didn’t lol like it’s going to be 5 star cuisine I would say it’s probably gonna be 3 star S.O.S buffet style but I could be wrong.  (SOS is our code for ‘different night SAME OLD SHITE).

After dinner we headed back to the room, unpacked and then hit the sack. Goosed! It’s been a long day.

The WiFi is pants in the public areas and if you want in the room you have to pay for it.

I am typing this up the following evening and bought a dongle so we can use the wifi anywhere. The room wifi is £10 for 20 GB but it was only £20 for a dongle off our rep which gives you 30 GB and you can use it anywhere then.

Oh I left my reading specs at home and lost my sunglasses with prescritoion in on the first day so currently squinting to type this so spelling will be worse than normal lol. I can jst about focus if I half close my eye and stand on one leg with my tongue out.,

G'night.
