The usual start to the day at 5am, up and ready and getting stuff done.
Complete strangers often stop me in the street and say "Hey Neil why do you get up at 5am" lol, well....
It's surprising the calmness I get from being in front of the day and getting all kinds of little jobs done around the house that have been piling up. Some mornings it can be as simple as putting a wash on or tidying a cupboard or drawer that's been annoying me. On other days I will get up and repot some of my plants that have outgrown their homes. Over time though the reduced stress levels have been great as I no longer have this long mental Todo list of things, getting out of control and constantly running around my head.
Mental health is such a big thing these days and so anything I can do to improve my state of mind, I am all over it.
Today was admin day as an appointment was canceled last minute, so I took some product photos and videos for social media. I have been surprised by how much attention people pay to Instagram posts and stories and I get messages from both existing customers and new ones asking for more info on products etc. It makes all the effort worthwhile when you see a return on the investment.
Yoga at 7am (day 7) was quite a short one and not too hard (good)then it was dog walk time and then up to the home office to start the proper work. Ringing around for appointments, following up on emails, mailing out info, chasing invoices etc.
During my lunch break, I decided to whip up some health(ier) flapjacks. They aren't exactly healthy due to the butter and golden syrup, but I tried to add some extra things to make them a bit healthier. Not a bad effort for my first attempt.
Here is the recipe, but there are no quantities as I just tend to wing it and add what I think :-/
Rolled Oats
Caster Sugar
Melted Butter
Golden Syrup
That seemed to be the basic recipe on most sites. I then added:-
Dried Cranberries
Chia seeds
Sunflower seeds
Sesame seeds
Almond Essense- to give it a nice flavour
Then a milled mix thing from Ald that contained:-
Flax seeds, almonds, Brazil nuts, & co-enzyme Q10
I have no idea what Q10 is but it sounds healthy?
Gave half of them to my neighbor and mate Jay and he swapped me for some butter, eggs and bananas as I said I'd make us some more banana cake cos he liked the last one. I made it with Oat flour instead of regular flour and didn't put sugar in it either. That's the next baking job for later in the week when the bananas riped more.
Received some heel balm from Clicks Research to product test, so if think I look a bit lighter on my feet next time you see me, it's because I have lovely soft heels lol.
I like doing product testing cos I get to try things I probably wouldn't normally but, plus I get to keep the products :-)
A chilled night watching Queer Eye new season 6. I love watching home and personal makeover shows. Early night to bed.
