Had a nice lay in today and got up at about 12:30pm both feeling a bit worse for wear. Sam made us both some philli and pickle sanwiches for brunch since it could no longer be classed as breakfast. We went for a wander around to see the place in the day. Sam bought herself a cowboy hat to keep the sun of her face, but it looked like the clouds were doing a good job of that.
Just over the road from us was a lagoon that was busy with sunbathers so after checking it out we got our swim stuff on and went to catch some rays. After about 30 minutes Sam sat up and her bikini top pranged off at the back. The clasp had snapped at the back somehow so she said she was nipping back to the room to fix it. When she picked up her hat to put it on there was a massive thing crawling on it. It looked like one of them scarab things you see in films. She tried tipping the hat up to knock it off but it was having none of it and looked like it was ready to wrestle her to the ground for it.
She eventually got it off and flicked it away but it kept coming back, I think she'd pissed it off and it was coming back for more. I considered hitting it with my flip-flop but judging by the size of it I thought it may grab the flip-flop off me and hit me back so we just left it and took a photo. We were going to let it wear Sams hat for the picture but I don't think it wanted to wear it and I wasnt arguing with it.
It was a bit cloudy so don't really think we actually caught anything but we stuck it out all the same.
When it looked like it might rain and we started to get a bit peckish we went for some stodge from Macdonalds. They had free internet so Sam went back to the room and got her laptop and we had a coffee while we updated our facebook and checked our emails. We then went and booked our trip for tomorrow to two of the Witsunday Islands and extended our stay for an extra night.
We decided to have a pretty early night as we have to be up at 7am for the bus pickup at 8:10am in the morning. So we went for a quick bite to eat at one of the bars along the main strip then went back to the hostel and both did our journals.
