Had a bit of a sleep-in this morning as we didn’t need to be up for anything particular so took advantage of it. We got up around 9.30 with the exception of Kelly who got up about 6.30am as she’s an early riser. Kelly made us all a full English breakfast to start off the day with a full belly.
After we’d eaten we went for a walk up to the top of Mount Victoria where they shot scenes from Lord of the Rings and took Millie with us. She might be a small dog but she’s not scared of taking on the big dogs lol.
After a bit of a stroll we walked down to the seafront to meet Geoff (Kelly’s ex) to pick up Rusty his dog. Kelly has arranged for Geoff to take us out in his boat for the day and stay over on the boat for a night. Kelly is going to put Rusty into doggy day-care with Millie in the morning so we can all stay overnight on the boat. We went for a paddle in the sea but it was freezing.
We went back to Kelly’s and got changed then headed into town to watch a comedy night as the fringe festival is on in Wellington. We stopped off at a Sushi restaurant on the way where they had a Sushi Train, so you can just pick dishes up off the conveyor belt as they pass round. We tried various different things, like Eel, Baby Squid, caviar and other plain things like spring rolls.
The comedy night was mainly American acts with the exception of the last comedienne who was a Kiwi woman who kept glancing down at the notes she’d written on the back of her hand as prompts. A lot of the Kiwi gags where hard to follow as they were local humour, but we still managed to get some of it.
After the comedy night we went to a local bar and played pool for a bit. We didn’t have a really late night as we had a lot to get sorted for the trip tomorrow.
