Woke up dead-on 5am this morning, no snooze, no extra 5 mins, so hopefully, that's a sign that I am getting back into my routine.
Put the finishing bit onto yesterday's blog and posted it to my website. I haven't posted it to the tavern, as I'm not sure my random ramblings will be of much interest to anyone. I will probably only really post things if they have a specific subject matter that I think may help people in some way.
I received an email from DKMS who I sent a cheek swab so that I could register to be a stem cell donor. It was something I saw on TV and as I already give blood, and the process is pretty much the same I thought why not? You go onto a global register and could potentially save someone's life who has a type of blood cancer. They use your DNA characteristics and you are logged into ta searchable database where hospitals can try and find a potential match. It's not a big sacrifice to be able to help someone, so I might chat to the Tavern Team to see if this is something we could maybe look at supporting in
Even if 1% of the taverners decided to get involved that's still almost 500 more people on the register. Whilst looking on their website I noticed a section that talks about creating a "Virtual Donor Drive|" to encourage new registrations. So I have started the process to set one up and see if we can get some Virtual Tavern members signed up. It also lets you monitor your sign-up progress which I think would be good.
I got two lovely presents from Heidi and the team at Serendipity House, a fantastic male grooming set and a bottle of rosé wine. Being 50 is like the birthday that keeps on giving :-) I’ve also got an afternoon tea at Gotham to look forward to and a helicopter ride with Rachel in July.
There were a couple of people who were at my 50th that didn't make it onto the Firstchoice Holidays Pic so I thought I'd work a big of magic and add them in lol.
Todrick Hall's new album is out tomorrow, the 80's inspired "Algorhythm". I've already fell in love with it just off the 3 preview songs. It's amazing how music can really lift your mood. If you've not heard any of Todricks music, I hardly recommend it. Start with "Straight outta Oz" but watch the album on Youtube as it's a visual album based around his life story but with a Wizzard of Oz theme. So talented. He seems like the kinda guy I woulda have been friends with at school if we'd have been born in a different lifetime obvs lol. I don't really get star-struck by celebs as I know they are just doing a job like the rest of us, it's just that theirs is in the spotlight. I'm not a screamer at concerts etc, but I can defo appreciate anyone with talent.
