Christmas Quiz Day

Well today was definitely a busy day! I had so much to get organised for The Virtual Tavern Christmas Quiz. I was up early and straight onto my computer formatting all the slides for the quiz so they all had the same look and feel and it flowed as best as possible. I am always nervous when I haven't done a live for a while because I use a piece of software I don't use on a regular basis. I used to do the quiz every week and so it became second nature but I have changed to a different software now so it takes a while to remember the setup.

As soon as I'd sorted the quiz out I tested the Live broadcast part to make sure I still remembered how it works. Then it was off to the supermarket to get everything I needed for the spot prizes as well as the mulled wine and mince pies for everyone on arrival. There is so much that goes into these events and I bet most people think it's just the hour of the quiz that's involved but there is so much behind the scenes.

Next, I had to download all the names of the people that had bought raffle tickets to add them to the spin the wheel software. For anybody that buys tickets later, I just added them to the wheel adhoc but the bulk import had been done at least.

Quick shower and change and then it was off to The Lowerhouse for 5:30pm so I could test all the setup as I had 3 screens to sync together as well as a projector screen. Luckily for me Dan is very Tech Savvy so he pretty much sorted out how everything linked up. I drove down as I still don't feel well so not in the mood for a drink, I want to save myself Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.

Andy Lee and Becky came around 6:30pm as well as Steph and Sarah from the admin team. A lot of the team were either sick or couldn't make this one. Let's hope we are all better for Christmas day and New Year.

The night went really well and everyone got involved both online and those that attended the venue. I've missed our live events but it's just fitting them in that is the hard part now everyone is back to normality and working etc. We raised lots of money for Lifeshare in Manchester which supports the homeless all year round.

We had a bit of Karaoke after the Quiz once we finished the live. We couldn't do it on facebook as they shut lives down if they pick up any copyright-protected music :-/

If I didn't have to work full time I would do so much more with The Tavern as I have so many ideas but it's finding the time to execute them all.
