Pretty uneventful night as far as the bowels were concerned. I didn’t wake up on the night exploding All over the bedroom or anything (quite disappointing lol)
Woke up early so I could the bet for an emergency day appointment as soon as the lines opened at 8:30am, luckily because I live nearby they managed to fit her in at 9:15am.
I took her straight there and after a quick explanation of her symptoms and an examination, they suspected it may be a problem with her heart :-( I had to leave her at the vet while they did a heart scan to see what was happening for sure.
Just after 2:15pm I got a call to ask if I could be at the surgery for 3pm for the doctor who had seen her, so he could discharge her into my care. I thought that sounded pretty positive as they didn't say they had to book her in for an op or anything.
The vet explained that she had a problem with one of the valves in her heart that isn't functioning properly and the valve isn't closing as it should and so fluid (blood) is being pumped back into her abdomen and her lungs. This is why she was having trouble breathing, and coughing and also why her stomach was swollen. He explained that this is not a condition that can be fixed but instead needed to be managed for as long as was possible. Not the outcome I was hoping for I'm not gonna lie, but at least it could be treated to some extent. He said some manage to continue on the treatment for 1-2 years but there is never a guarantee, she could deteriorate quickly without warning they just couldn't say.
Just looking at her little face when I picked her up literally broke my heart. As soon as I had to explain it to mum I was just in floods. I know your pets don't live forever but when you're confronted with their mortality it really hits home.
I let Bella stay at mum for the night so that I could give Bonnie 121 attention and Bella wouldn't feel left out cos she could get fuss from mum.
Kirsty made us both a lovely 'Poke Plate' cos she couldn't be bothered getting bowls out lol. We had smoked Salmon with it and she made a side dish with it that she'd had before. It was rocket, grated carrot, peanuts and mayo and it was absolutely gorgeous and really lifted the rest of the salad. The weather was still nice so we ate Alfresco in the back garden to take the most of the late sun while we could.
The VIP backdrop arrived today too which is good timing. I was actually out wehn they tired to deliver it and they couldn't just lesave it in a saf place. Thankfully the Ring doorbell saved gthe day again as I was able to speak to the delivery driver and ask him to try Liz over the orad as she would usually be in and might take the parcel in for me. Result ! I could hear him saying "oksy thank you' and then he shouted "it's at number 3". Tehnoology saves the day again :-)
In other news, I spoke to Elena who suggested buying some Dulcolax and taking 3 before bed. I'm up for trying anything at this stage as my lower stomach is so painful constantly. So I took 3 and I'm hoping for the best that tomorrow brings some kind of movement :-/
