Day 23 - From a distance.
Woke up still with a horrible stabbing pain in the left side of my abdomen, so took me ages to pluck up the energy to get out of bed slowly. I don't know how to describe the pain it felt like I'd either pulled a muscle or like it was my appendix or something. I took painkillers as soon as I'd had something for breakfast so that I could crack on with getting ready for the BBQ.
The weather was spot on for a BBQ, proper sunny and not a cloud in the sky. There wasn't even any wind so it was like being abroad or something. The only thing missing was the hot tub, which I still need to get fixed.
It was a really good turnout, lots of people came and brought food & drunk with them, so for once, it didn't cost me an arm and a leg to host a BBQ. I think I spent about £80 in Iceland on shopping for it, which is good for me. Picked mum up and then did a quick clean of the BBQ as it hasn't been used in about 2 years. I think as soon as this BBQ is over I'm going to buy one of those oven pride bags and put the BBQ grill in there overnight so that. it's all gleaming ready for the next time I want to have a BBQ.
Jen next door was also having a BBQ with her sister Mandy and her partner Tony, who I knew but completely forgot they were related. after we had all eaten we ended up combining groups and all coming to mine.
As the sun went down we ended up indoors watching Eurovision, which I hadn't realised was on. For the first time since I can remember we actually got good scores from the other countries and came 2nd! Ukraine came first which was the best result as it was a poke in the eye to Russia to show them that the rest of Europe supported Ukraine. It still shocks me in this day and age that we are even having any kind of war.
Pretty much after Eurovision finished at midnight the remaining people went home. Kirsty was so good all night, she was keeping on top of all the pots and tidying up all night. If it wasn't for her the place would of been a right mess.
