Bali Trip - Day 5

Woke up at about 1:45am and then just couldn't get back to sleep. I think it's about that time that the bloody cockerels start crowing. tonight the dogs joined in and started howling too, It's like the dawn chorus lol. It doesn't actually bother me as it's all part of the experience and I will probably find it hard to sleep when I get home when there isn't all the sounds, the gentle sound of the fan spinning, Geckos' chirping now and then, birds tweeting and the crowing and howling lol.

Layla went to the daily market and bought some grapes and tangerines so she could get her fruit fix and then it was time for breakast. It was the usual fruits, watermelon (both red and a yellow variety I haven't seen before), mango, red dragon fruit there were some cheese toasties this morning too and plain toast to have what you wanted on. I went for the crunchy chocolate spread again o get my sweet fix. That and about 4 coffees.

After breakfast, it was time to start loading all the structures onto the boats and then taking them out to the current site that is being rebuilt and pushing them overboard. We then go out and diving tomorrow to organise them onto the ones that have already been created. That's another reason why they are built with legs so that even when they are stacked on top of each other, fish and marine life can still swim through the gaps.

We got the work done by 9:30am so were free to do our own thing then. Me and Layla went snorkeling just a few meters out and because the visibility was so clear we could see loads of fish, starfish, and coral. It will be even more amazing when we dive tomorrow as apparently once you are at the bottom you take off your fins so that you can walk on the ocean floor to move the structures into position.

Afternoon we built more structures so there will be lots more ready to deploy next week once these have dried. I'm looking ofrward to tomorrow doing our first dive.

After dinner, a large group of the volunteers started playing drinking games. We stayed chatting with a few of the others at the tables where we’d eaten. Some are due to go home so this will be their last chance to have a drink with friends they’ve made.

We didn't join in as we don't want to be feeling rough tomorrow for our first dive as it's not that kind of holiday for us. A lot of the others are younger and on their gap years so happy to party etc.

We hit the sack at about 9:15pm. Goosed !
