Woke up at 7am and quickly through my stuff in the case and set off to meet the others at the harbour for the boat. I couldn't face food but Layla polished off 3 banana pancakes and some fresh fruit. I thought they would just put three on a plate but instead brought 3 separate plates and it looked like a precession of food going past our room to the breakfast table for her lol. I left her to it and headed over to the port as I get frustrated waiting for people and Layla's "I'll just be 5 minutes" can be anything from 5 minutes to 5 days lol. So I've learnt the best way not to get frustrated is not to be sat waiting and then I don't notice it so much. Also one of my pet peeves is being late so when we have an arranged time, I flap trying too make sure I'm there on time. Layla has more of a "they can wait,I'll be there when I'm there" kinda outlook:-)
We were supposed to meet at 8:30am for the public boat over to the mainland. For some reason the government have made a recent change so we can't get the private boat direct to Amed we have to get a public boat over to "somewhere" and then change and get a private boat for the bulk of the trip. Not sure what the whole point of it is but you can bet your bottom dollar it's revenue related.
When we all met up at the boat place, it turns out we have to wait around until 10:30! Oh joy! Could have had another hour in bed if we'd known. Sitting in the sun feeling less than fresh is not my favourite past time, I definitely couldn't face food though so just had a water., Layla arrived soon after and within the hour had polished off Smashed avocado on toast topped with a fried egg. I do't know where she puts it cos if I ate all that I'd be fatter than I am now. :-/. That said I feel like I might have lost a bit of weight these past two weeks, so when I get home I will try and eat a better diet and keep it off, ideally lose more.
Got the two boats over to Bali and eventually arrive ed around lunch time. It seemed like a long ride but that might have been because I was sat at the back getting sprayed with water. Still better than the alternative of being inside deck and throwing up.
Once we arrived we said our goodbyes and luckily Augus the fast taxi driver was waiting for me. I was thinking I'd have to try and sort a c ab but Sukma had already arranged it for me, bless her. Poppy wasn't coming in my taxi now as she had missed her flight cos it was yesterday not today, oops. She still gave me half the taxi fare though which I though was sweet of her.
Did my best to sleep in the car but with Lewis Hamilton behind the wheel ducking and weaving through the traffic and tapping his horn to let those in front know he was coming through I didn't stand much chance.
Eventually got to the hotel and checked in. It seems nice it was a Melia chain so I knew it would be a proper hotel and have hot water, bliss! First thing I did was get in the room and have a nice warm shower. Clean boxers on and lay in bed watching a couple of movies.
It's been a long day from sart to finish and I don't mind not using the hotel pool etc as Ive lived in the water for the past two weeks so its nice to just be clean, dry and in bed lol.
Neil I feel your pain with Layla and time 😂 our Adelaide the same. My head falls off if am last for anything 😂❤️
