We woke up at about 7am and Layla packed a weekend bag and I packed up all my stuff as I would be going straight to the airport from Gilly T island whereas Layla would be doing back to camp.
After breakfast we headed to the harbour in two cars to get the boat over to Gilly T island, one of the 3 Gilly islands. The T does stand for Trawangan but everyone just shortens it as it's easier to say.
The boat over was a bit rough so I sat at the back of the boat outside as I don't tend to feel seasick when I can see the waves etc. All the previous night's alcohol probably didn't help matters and every time I sniffed up I could smell that blood palm wine :-/
Once we got to the island Josh knew where their hotel was as he had been before. So he dropped their bags and a few of the group at the Divers Dream accom and then helped us get to ours. Bless him he's prob one of the youngest in the group but is also the sensible one looking after everyone. The first thing I noticed was how white hte beaches were and how blue the water was. A big difference from where we had come from
Our accommodation was lovely (pics to follow). It was made up of little cute bungalows and a small pool area with a hammock. The island has no motorised transport so everyone gets around on bicycles or on these horse and cart things. I couldn't bring myself to go on one of those as it felt cruel having them dragging people around in this heat. The horses seemed well looks after and healthy looking but it still felt wrong.
We had a little look around the island and grabbed some dinner at the Divers Dream where the others were staying. I opted for a burger and chips as it was just nice to have a change from rice and noodle.
After dinner I went back to the room for a nap and then decided not to go out at the night as I felt a bit ropey. It had been a long day travelling and the boat motion probably didn't help.
The others went out and came back to the room to see me later with some pizza slices. I actually appreciated the gesture and had a couple of pieces but declined the offer to carry on out with them. Sometimes you need the sleep to recharge the batteries.
