Diclaimer:- I've had no wifi for a few days hense the delay in posting the past few days. The wifi here is spotty at best so I can't even upload any pics yet. I wiull add pics to my blogs when I get home with a good wifi at last. So my otherwise riventing blog for bow will be pictureless but fear not I will brighten it up as soon as I can.
I didn't get a whole lot of sleep again last night I kept waking up at different times. We woke up at 5:45am though as it was the big beach clean-up day with all the local children and important people from the village. It's called Bulan Cinta Laut and happens every year. October is 'love the ocean' month where people are encouraged to help clean upjust world's oceans. We all went in both directions along the beach with some large bags for general waste and other bags for plastics that could be recycled at the recycling station.
All the volunteers had to be fitted with sarongs and a sash-type thing by Sukma so we had the native attire. After the beach cleaning there was a ceremony with the dignitaries making various speeches in Indonesian so not much audience participation from us lot really. We were then given a small box with some little sponge cakes in it and water. Funnily enough, everything in the box was in a plastic of some shape or form which seemed to go against the whole ethos of the day really lol.
We then had breakfast with cinnamon toast this morning as well as the usual fruits etc. Straight after breakfast, it was time to do our dive to put all the structures in place. This was probably one of my favourite dives to date as there were so many different fish and lots of them. They were all swimming in and out of the existing reef that had been put in place a week or so ago. It felt so rewarding to see them using the artificial sections and it obviously works as I've never seen so many fish since we've been here. Apparently, they like to have shelter to hide in etc away from predators.
After our dive we did a bit of sunbathing on the wall at the bottom of our area. Irt was the hottest time of the day but I put high factor on and we weren't in it for too long.
We had lunch and then me and Layla went snorkeling to put our plaque in the water with our hand prints and initials on it. Layla did the free diving and I filmed and took pics as my breathing isn't great yet for free diving, something I need to practice.
Tonight was our last night together so Boris bought a 5litre bottle of something called Plam wine. It was a cloudy liquid made with fermented sap from a palm tree and had a kind of egg smell (they do tell you not to drink it and jus shot it). It also arrives warm as the container is too big too put in the fridge. Not gonna lie I've drank nicer things but it was cheap and did the trick I guess, but defo onot someting I would rush out to buy. We had a bit of a party which started off with a few drinking card games and then ended up with dancing and singing.
Went bed pretty late and it's probabluy the latest night I've had since being here.
