Bali Bound

We woke up nice and early at 7am as out flight was at 11am so we needed to be at Heathrow at 9am. After a few failed attempts with Taxi companies, we managed to get a Bolt all the way there instead of messing about with buses and tubes and probably not saving that much.

The whole check-in process at Heathrow couldn't have gone any smoother, oh apart from you are meant to download some kind of app that we didn't know about that you fill in all you details, passport, flight info etc and it generates a QR code for you to show on arrival. We hadn't been told about this so it's worth looking into it if you are planning to go to Bali. We were that annoying pair who stood at the check-in desk trying to fill it in. To be fiar though she was pretty patient (not that her face read as being patient lol) but she told us to scan the QR code on her desk and then complete the info, it was pretty quick and painless really.

Once checked in we went straight through security without and long queue, just a short one as people had to take shoes off which always holds things up a bit. No sooner were we through and we were boarding. We just had time to grab a WH Smith meal deal and eat our sandwich while the masses started queuing up to board. We just stayed seating until the queue died down as we all have an allocated seat so there's no mad panic.

We weren't sat together because we had to do our flights as two separate bookings because we are going for different durations. Layla had been allocated extra legroom on the aisle and I was in the middle set of 3 in the middle seat. Luckily the guy who was just about to get settled next to me, was on his own so I asked if he wanted to swap for an aisle seet with extra legroom so we could sit together. He agreed, which was good of him. Probably a decision he would regret when he realised the lady next to him had a baby :-/ Oops sorry.

As you can see we were really pleased to be sat together and taking off lol.

Soon after takeoff, we were offered a bag of nuts and a drink and then it was time for our first meal of the flight, lunch.

The meal was a choice of chicken or fish and we both opted for fish and rice. It had a lovely soy glaze on it ad had a tuna Nicoise salad for starters followed by a kind of cheesecake minus the biscuit base. Lucky for me Layla doesn't eat dairy so I got tow desserts, result!

There was a good selection of movies on the entertainment screens as well as TV shows and music to pass the time. After another few hours it was time for a snack which was a wrap one half was coronation chicken and one half was cheese. So again I struck lucky as I got Layla's cheese half. I'd already eaten my chicken half before we realised the cheese wasn't on the chicken half and it was a separate wrap.

2 hours before we landed it was time for breakfast. We could smell It cooking and we're picturing hash browns with omelet, mushrooms and tomatoes lol. What arrived was chicken and rice with a so it sauce. Very tasty though all the same but just a surprise for breakfast lol.

The lady with the baby who would have been sat next to Layla, was up and down like a brides nighty, I bet the guy that swapped was cursing us lol.

Not long after we'd finished that and we were starting our descent into Kuala Lunpur. The airport is huge so we headed straight through transit and to our next gate. We had about an hour to kill but I like to find the gate first as sometimes they can be a 20-minute walk and you can end up rushing when they call that it is boarding.

Once we found the gate in managed to find seating with a plug so I could plug my laptop in. Layla went in search of food while I started catching up on my emails and blog.

When we arrive in Bali it will be Saturday so see next post for the next installment.
