Woke up at about 3am as body clock is still all over the place. Had a busy day ahead as I’m booked at th Coco-Cola museum and aquarium. I feel more relaxed about it, though now I have seen how close they are to each other. Also got the Ferris wheel for later as I want to do it as the sun goes down. There is no fixed time for coco-cola and Ferris wheel I just booked the Aquarium for 2pm.
Went down for breakfast at 7am so I could get out and buy some clothes early although the Ponce City Market doesn’t open until 10am.
I was booked on Room Only but managed to charge breakfast to my room as they already had my credit car on file (even though it won’t go through). I would have preferred to eat out but didn’t want the embarrassment of my card declining, so probably paid over the odds for breakfast.
The selection wasn’t great really for a hotel. Not a lot of hot food to choose from.’pretty much sausage, chicken sausage, eggs and potatoes . I would have expected more for a Crowne Plaza so won’t be having that again.
Checked again with reception still no case. I have a WhatsApp for a contact who has been keeping me in touch but it would have been easier if they just made the QR code actually work so people could self-serve. It’s arrived in ATL so just waiting for it to be delivered.
Got a cab To the city market for 10am and had a look around the shops. They were quite pricey but I didn’t have a lot of options. I couldn’t depend on my case arriving and desperately needed clean clothes. Just bought enough for today and tmrw in the hope it comes soon. Got myself a couple of plain T-shirts, shorts, boxers, socks and a pair of trainers. My travel trainers which were not intended to walk the stewets in are already dirty and will need to go in the wash when I get home (white fabric material). Tried to make the most of the situation and did a TikTok back at the hotel with the clothes (everything is content these days).
Got to the Aquarium just in time for my slot. It was a really big place with lots of different zones. I managed to get around everything quite quickly in about 2 hours which included a dolphin show at 3pm*.
*Top tip. You can scan a QR code inside at the dolphin entrance to book your show times and you can also book the otter show too so I recommend heading straight to the dolphin escalator when you arrive and booking your slots ;-)
The next stop was the Coca-Cola Museum and I didn't feel like I could enjoy it fully as I was conscious that my phone battery was going to die and I had no way to charge it while I was out. My battery pack was in my suitcase, so I almost missed lots of it as I didn't want to use the camera so I could save the battery for the tasting room.
I sent a whatsapp to check the status of my suitcase and was told it had been delivered to the hotel and hour ago! I still couldn't relax until I knew that a) it was definitely there and b) everything was still in my case that I packed.
Jumped on a scooter and headed back to the hotel. I have got the hang of navigating around the city now as the hotel is right behind the tallest building in Atlanta so I feel like Kevin, in home alone 2 (or 3 I forget) using the big building as a beacon lol.
There was a massive queue but I asked the Valet if they could check in back for me. IT WAS THERE. And it felt heavy so that was a good sign. When I got to the room I opened it and could easily see everything was intact as I had used packing cubes neatly organised so easily could see it was as I packed it.
I plugged my phone into my battery pack and headed back out to the Ferris wheel as the sun was just starting to go down and I would hopefully catch the sunset when I was on the wheel. Got a cab there as I wasn't 100% sure where it was.
After the Ferris I was going to get a hotdog but the queue was huge at the one as you come off the ride, so I grabbed a scooter and headed back to the hotel. I managed to get a microwave cheese and ham bagel which filled the bap. Next, it was time to pack to head to South Carolina.
I will do a Top Tip for Atlanta post when I get some free time.
