Around the World Trip - Day 81 - 23rd March 2009 – Brisbane

Woke up pretty early considering what time I got in, it was about 8:30am. Sam went out for a mooch around but I stayed at the hostel as I wanted to try and get all my washing done before I go to Sydney. Managed to do most of it in one wash but the washing line was full so I just banged it all in the dryer so it was over and done with. It seems like everyone was having the same thought and doing theirs today lol.

The two guys in our dorm checked out at about 10am and left a few bits lying around the dorm but Jenny came in and cleaned up ready for the next lot. Made some pasta for lunch and let it go cold then added some tuna with sundried tomato and basil. Two new people arrived at our dorm just after lunch. They are both from Israel and I can’t remember nor pronounce their names. It sounded like the guy was called “Surely” or something and for arguments sake let’s say the girl was called “Mip-mop” as I didn’t like asking her to repeat it again. I was honest though and said to them “I will never remember them names so we might have to call you both something else” lol. First impressions are that “surely” might be a friend of Dorothys and Mip-Mop is his fag-hag but I could be wrong ;-)

The hostel only had one computer for the internet and it seems to be up and down like a whores drawers so when Sam got back we both grabbed our laptops and drove over to the nearest MacDonald’s to use their free Wi-Fi for an hour or two while we got our pics uploaded. My battery ran our before I got them all done but I can carry on when I get to Sydney I’m sure.

After Mac-D’s we nipped over to the cinema that was just round the corner near Coles, to see what was on. We ended up booking two tickets for 9:30pm so go and watch “Confessions of a Shopaholic”. We thought that would be a better plan than going out on the beer as we needed to check out in the morning and catch a flight.

When we got back to the hostel “S & M” were in the dorm and we chatted for a while, where we found out Surely was of the limp wrist persuasion, and I told him he wasn’t alone as I could never carry heavy shopping either lol. He said it felt like a relief to meet another person like him. “But I’m not Jewish?” I thought. After chatting for a while I told him where “The Beat” nightclub was and gave him the run-down on the ID situe and how far it was etc. Mip-Mop didn’t want to go with him and I told him it was probably a bit far to treck to on your own. In the end they asked if it was okay to come with us to the cinema, so we said NO! I’m kidding course we didn’t they came along. It was interesting talking to them in the dorm as Mip-Mop is really open and confident and just asks and says things as she thinks them. In there country is is mandatory to do national service, which I find a really weird concept to get to grips with as they are both so young yet have already been in the army.

We had a drink in the bar and then watched the movie, which was a typical feel good chick flick kinda film, but good to watch. After the film we walked back to the dorm and then read for a while and then turned in for an early ish night as S & M had been travelling all day and we had an early start. Lights out in Cell Block H. No pics Today :-(
