Around the World Trip - Day 80 - 22nd March 2009 – Brisbane

Updated: Jan 6, 2023

Woke up and had a coffee and cereal bar for breakfast and then spent the day relaxing by the pool and catching some rays while it was nice. The sky was really clear for most of the day so I read a book and dipped in and out of the pool all day.

Sam went for walk into the city to do some more shopping, she didn’t want to take the car as the city was a nightmare to get around by car.

I went to the local Coles for some lunch and bought a half a cooked chicken and some bits to eat for dinner. It was only round the corner once you got up heart attack hill, thank god we are near the top of it.

After lunch I went to the dorm and watched a few episodes of “how I met your mother” on my laptop and then swapped the book I’d finished for another at the hostel book swap thingy.

Sam got back from shopping and we sorted out a “resident” parking permit with the hostel so we could leave the car outside tomorrow instead of moving it, had to pay $30 deposit for it.

We decided after a big night last night to just have a night in so we nipped over to Coles and got a few drinks to have in the dorm. Your not allowed any alcohol in the main TV room, or sports on TV, which is cool with me. I guess its because the hostel is in a residential area and sports + booze usually means lots of noise.

Sam wasn’t feeling up to socialising much so stayed in the dorm reading so I went out to the outside courtyard with a bottle of red wine and a bottle of coke to join the girl who looked after the hostel and a few others. The girl was called Jenny and was from Ireland along with Kieran and Shane, and Barbara (all from Ireland). They were playing a drinking game with cards so I joined them. It soon became clear that the idea was just to simply get drunk lol. After a few rounds of the game Jenny suggested we all get changed and meet back down in 15 minutes and go into town.

15 minutes later and all changed and we went to the down under bar where they had reasonable music and it got busier as the night went on. We drank and danced until the wee hours and I think I got in about 4:30am.
