Around the World Trip -Day 61 - 3rd March 2009 – Ravenshoe Wildlife Sanctuary

Not sure what I keep doin with my alarm but I woke up at bloody 5am this morning by mistake. I think its cos my phone is still on UK time so I must keep doing it wrong. Went for breakfast and had toast etc and the girls were talking in French (as you do when you are French), Harry said to them “why don’t you speak English so Flo can learn English that’s the whole point of you being here isn’t it?”. I was fuming inside cos he always has to nit pick at something and he is the worst one for speaking German all the time. Saskia had not even got basic English skills that a 6 or 7 year old would have so how can he talk when he doesn’t speak English to her. I had to say something in their defence so I said “then why don’t you speak English to Saskia so she can learn?”. He then made it into a joke and said that Saskia just pretends she wants to learn.. I think he can tell when I am not happy as he starts to be nice again I just find it hard to hide it on my face when I think someone is being mean to people,

I watered all the animals and then carried on spreading all the gravel out over the drive. Harry was sat talking to Warwick and so told me to take a break, saying how I work so hard and if he had 10 of me the place would run so easily, but I didn’t feel flattered as I just felt bad for the girls who were working just as hard weeding all the vegetable garden with no thanks.

When we had our morning break at 10am Harry yet again had to have a dig at the girls and said how he will take Saskia into town as somebody was SO RUDE not to ask if she wanted to go to town yesterday to use the internet. So that’s what the attitude was about today was it? I bit my tongue rather than say what I really wanted to and just looked at the girls and rolled my eyes. We make all the effort with Saskia and she makes none, she doesn’t sit with us and always sits away from us. If I get the chance to speak with Harry on my own I will have to say something. We didn’t intentionally not invite Saskia, it was more a case of they were going to town and I invited myself, if we were being mean we wouldn’t have invited her swimming. To presume it was done intentionally is wrong and he should have given the girls the benefit of the doubt. GGGRRRRRRR.

Spent the rest of the day strimming the kangaroo pen and then made a start clearing the tool shed which Harry had mentioned he wanted to get done before I left. I do want to speak to him though because it's causing a bad atmosphere and it could be a nice one.

Harry took Saskia into town later in the morning and we had lunch at about 12:45pm with Karin, who seemed really chatty and nice when he wasn’t around.

In the afternoon I just got showered and then spent the afternoon in the shade watching episodes of “Gossip Girl” as Leti has brought a CD with her with Season 2 up to episode 13, so I had a mini-marathon and watched up to episode 5 lol.

We had a beef stroganoff with pasta for dinner then did the usual TV in the caravan for a bit then bed. It’s funny how you get used to wandering around amongst the wild animals at night with just a small torch. I don’t even notice the Kangaroos most of the time and they don’t seem too scared, even though they run off as you get close to them.
