A New Years Eve to Forget

Updated: Jan 3, 2023

Well as far as New Year's Eve's go this one has probably got to be one of the shitest so far (if that's a word). I had originally planned to go to Heyside Cricket Club with Nicky and got our tickets months ago. As Nicky has started a new job as a nurse she had to work so couldn't come. I had made my mind up that I really didn't fancy going out and spending the night in a cold marquee plus my kidneys were still really painful so drinking wasn't high on my list of priorities.

Kirsty had made plans to go over to Laylas mum in Irlam so I said I would go down to mum so she wasn't on her own. I'd had an invite to go to Alexa and Fi's but I couldn't really leave Bella with mum as she would probably be in bed most the night or sleeping so wouldn't be able to make sure she got out for a wee etc.

Anyway but 5:30pm when it was clear I was just going to be spending the night watching mum sleep on the sofa I decided to make my way home with Bella, so I could at least get my comfy's on and sleep in my own bed.

So it was PJ's on, candles lit and a night in on the sofa with my Bella. I could hear the music down at Heyside Cricket Club but I really didn't even feel like I was missing out. I stayed up just so I could wish people Happy New Year and then I was pretty much in bed by 12:30am.

So that I could start the new year tomorrow being productive I put a load of dried peas into a pan of water to soak overnight. I'm going to make a big pan of pea and ham soup with some of the ham joint I cooked yesterday.
