Okay, so today was a long day as I was up at 5am to go to a BNI meeting. Through my supplements down me before I left the house but then had to wait 30 mins before I could eat something. Luckily our BNI doesn't just have cooked breakfast stuff there is also cereal and fresh fruit. So before the meeting started I had my free fruit for the day which was 8 medium Strawberries. Then I had my protein shake and I was good to go :-) . Have to admit I cheated though today as it just didn't feel right networking without a cup of coffee in my hand. So I had one but with just a splash of milk and NO sugar. I have been having my shakes with water rather than skimmed milk as a) I didn't have any in and b) it just tastes like white water anyway? Plus the vanilla shake is so tasty on its own you don't really miss the milk. So my justification for having the milk in my brew is that I didn't have any in my shake. Having no sugar in a coffee is quite a big step for me as I usually have 2, but I thought if I want to avoid the sugar crashes I need to stick to it and avoid sugar.
After BNI I had a busy day making appointments and sorting out loads of admin, and then before I knew it we were on 3pm and I hadn't eaten any lunch. I say lunch I mean my supplements and a protein shake. I decided to skip it as I had a meeting to go into and I would be sorting my dinner not long after.
By the time I got home though it was about 7pm and I could of quite easily chowed down with the dogs and ate half their dog food. That's my own fault for not sticking to it. If I would of have my shake at lunch I wouldn't have got to the stage where I felt hungry.
Anyway, I flew into the kitchen throwing bags of veg out of the fridge and in a matter of minutes I had prepared an oriental-inspired masterpiece lol, Ok not quite. It was in fact a piece of salmon (crispy skin on for the good oils), Pan-fried asparagus & Broccoli stems which I added a little light soy sauce to. The broccoli (which I spell wrong every time and put not enough c's and too many l's) when friends with some soy has the taste of crispy see weed that you get from the Chinese. I bet Ken Hom is sh1tting himself. Don't worry Ken I think yer jobs safe.This was all finished off with the jewel in the crown, a sweet potato with a smidge of fat free cottage cheese. The end result was truly a feast for the tastebuds :-)
Now I know the presentation skills are a bit off as I should have had the salmon as the star of the show, but in this pic its being upstaged but the sweet potato. Tasted good though I jest you not. I actually typed 'Should of' then realised it is 'should have', that was a close call, I would have got the grammar police giving me a ticket. Well I might as well warn you now, if its grammatically correct writing and high brow subject matter you're looking for you are definitely on the wrong blog. Sometimes I don't even proof read it, I just ramble and hit Publish lol
Anyway after dinner I realised not only had I missed my shake but also some of my bloody tablets so I had run over the times. Hopefully, that won't hinder my progress too much, but if I come 2nd instead of 1st in the 'Mr most improved gut in Oldham 2019' competition I will be deeply miffed and look back on this slim up and wonder, 'what if I had just taken that extra tablet and not missed that one shake'.
Riddled with guilt I decided to fit in the shake at night and warm it in the microwave (with skimmed milk) and a sprinkle of cinnamon and have it as an alternative to my Ovaltine bedtime drink. The only thing I missed now is the tablet but I ain't taking that before bed it might keep me away, and god knows I cant afford to miss any beauty sleep.
That's Day 4 in the bag and not even been tempted to put anything in my mouth I shouldn't ;-) Oooh Matron. lol
One thing I hadn't realised is I am supposed to be adding some light-moderate exercise into this program which I haven't so far. Which will mean I probably won't get the Peter Andre abs I was hoping for :-/ . Might need to ask them to hold off sticking me on the front cover of Men's Health just in case. :-/
